Tanzania expects to increase tourist numbers to 1.5 million by 2017, after a marketing campaign helped boost tourism by 4 percent last year. The country is marketing itself to visitors frequenting its Zanzibar islands and is competing with neighboring Kenya where tourism has declined since 2013, largely due to Islamic militant violence.
