In April, I spoke at the University of Guelph Humber’s Emerge Media Conference. This was my first time speaking at a university conference and it was great answering all the questions the audience had about marketing and the media industry as a whole.
I went to university in my hometown Vancouver. As a lot of university and college students are realizing as they go through each school year, you don’t learn everything you need to know in school. I shared some of my experiences and lessons learned from being in the media industry since I was 15 years old.
I had two negative situations impact me at once. Instead of letting that ruin my life, these experiences helped shape me into the business women I am today and lead me create my company Hashtag Communications.
In less than a year, I learned as much about Youtube as I could with the help of my friend Corey Vidal. The influence that creators such as Lilly Singh and Hannah Hart had on social media and the Youtube platform really intrigued me.I began connecting and collaborating with Youtube content creators like JusReign and Matt Santoro.
My own online popularity began to grow and I started doing brand deals. This further helped me realize the need and value of an Influencer Marketing agency that could connect brands with “internet celebrities.”
