It’s no secret that we do some of our best work when we’re in difficult situations.

When all other options are removed from us and we have to do something or else, we find a way to pull through and succeed.

In ancient war times troops would arrive on enemy land and their leaders would order for their ships to be burned – leaving them with no other option but to win the battle or die.

In business and especially sales & marketing it’s important to adopt this “gun to your head” state of mind.

Back when I first started as an entrepreneur I was completing a college degree, working an internship and starting my first company all at one time with little success. I didn’t have to make my business succeed, I could always fall back on my corporate job and the pay checks kept coming in.

I was comfy, I didn’t need to succeed – business success at that point would have simply been a nice to have. Then one day I decided I needed to focus, I quit my job, dropped out of college to my parents and friends horror and went all in with my business.

Without knowing it at the time I essentially put myself in a “gun to your head” situation. I had to succeed with my business or else, there was no other option. This is when I first started to gain traction as an entrepreneur and I’ve never looked back since.

Now I’m not saying to put yourself in dangerous situations, that’s not smart. What I’m saying is you should adopt the gun to your head state of mind with everything you do – especially marketing & sales.

Think to yourself; If I had a gun to my head and I had to make sales or die would I run the marketing campaign I’m running right now?

If not then don’t run it. If so then you’re on the right track.

Every time you sit down at your desk to create a marketing campaign try to imagine that somebody has a gun drawn to your head and you have to make sales or die.

This is the secret to amazing marketing & many of the worlds best business breakthroughs – harness it for your own success and to your competitors demise.
