The Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Anatoli Antonov accused multiple members of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s family of being involved in illegal oil trade with the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), in Moscow, Wednesday.
SOT, Anatoli Antonov, Deputy Minister of Defence of Russia (Russian): “Erdogan’s resignation is not our main goal. It’s a thing of the people of Turkey. Our aim, which we call on you to pursue as well, dear colleagues, is to cut the sources of financing of terrorism with joint efforts. We will continue to provide evidence for Turkey’s theft from its neighbours. Maybe this will be too direct, but the control over this thievery business can only be committed by the closest people. Doesn’t it raise questions in the West that the son of Turkey’s president is the head of one of the biggest energy companies in the country, and his [the president’s] son in law was inaugurated as minister of energy? What a sparkling family business.”
