Qu’est-ce que le marketing mix (ou mix marketing) ?

Il s’agit de la combinaison des composants de la commercialisation d’un produit. A l’origine, il y avait quatre composants, les 4 Ps du marketing que voici.

Le produit. C’est l’objet qui est commercialisé ainsi que tous ses attributs y compris son emballage et ses services éventuels qui sont associé. Le produit n’est pas forcément physique, il peut prendre la forme d’un logiciel ou d’un service.

Le prix. C’est le tarif auquel le produit ou service est vendu.

La Place. Ou la distribution. Il s’agit du canal par lequel le produit est acheminé vers le consommateur. La distribution peut être directe, ou effectuée par le biais d’intermédiaires.
Promotion. Ce sont toutes les actions de communication du produit auprès de la bonne cible avec les médias adaptés.

Aujourd’hui, il peut y en avoir beaucoup plus. L’on parle notamment des 7 P du marketing qui comprend aussi les Personnes, les Preuves Physiques et les Processus.

Pourquoi un marketing mix ? (ou mix marketing)

Imaginez une pizza. L’on peut y ajouter du fromage. De la viande. Des olives et même un peu de verdure. Changez la quantité de chaque ingrédient et la pizza sera différente. L’enjeu est de les mélanger pour aboutir à une succulente pizza.

Le marketing mix est pareil. Chaque composant que vous modifiez influence le tout. Un meilleur produit aura un impact sur le prix. Vous pouvez changer la communication, ajouter un canal de distribution et le mix sera différent.

L’enjeu consiste à trouver le marketing mix optimal pour maximiser les ventes en améliorant les marges.
En résumé, les quatre composantes de base du marketing mix sont :

Le produit
Le prix
La promotion
La place ou la distribution
