In this trip report, we look at the new Malaysia Airlines Business Class product on an A330-300 flight between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur.
Even though we use the priority check-in lane, the long queues means that the check-in at Sydney Airport takes a bit longer than usual. After receiving our boarding passes and dropping off our baggage, we use our Express Path passes to speed through immigration and security.
In the secured part of the terminal, we visit the Qantas Business Lounge to fill up on some lunch before we board the flight. Malaysia Airlines used to have a Golden Lounge in Sydney but that closed a few years ago and now outsource lounge visits to Qantas.
We soon board the aircraft at gate 35 and take a look at the hard product Business Class seat. After take-off, we review the on-board offerings such as the service, food, drinks, IFE system, amenity kit, etc. The different seat positions are also looked at – reclined and lie-flat modes.
The landing in Kuala Lumpur is a bit turbulent due to the heavy rains in the region. The pilots, however, touch down smoothly on the runway. After disembarking from the aircraft, we go through immigration/customs and pick up our priority-tagged baggage. We then leave the arrivals hall and head to the Sama Sama Airport Hotel pick up area.
