China announced last week it will abandon its decades-long one-child policy, allowing all couples to have two, aiming to address the problem of an aging population and to grow the economy. The new policy is expected to have effects across Chinese society. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences estimates that the new policy means at least 2 million newborns are expected each year. It may also mean more business opportunities in the Chinese baby market.
